hi there, I’m Marissa

I am, and always have been, a hopeless romantic. I absolutely LOVE love. And I mean all kinds of love; self love, family love, and especially true love. Because of this, I have found that I am really able to bring out the inner beauty and unique personality of each of my clients (my friends, YOU!) and their special moments.

I love meeting new people, and one thing I have noticed about myself is my ability to make people feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera. Hearing your stories and really getting to know you and who you are, then getting to bring that to life in my photography makes this job incredibly special to me.

I’m also passionate about magic. I believe that there is magic in each little moment of life, that’s why capturing those small candid moments (the genuine smiles and laughter, the look in your partners eyes the first time they see you, the dance party where everyone is using their drinks as a microphone) is the best part of my day.

Where it all began…

I got my first camera when I was 10 years old; it was bright green and to this day, I still have it in my closet. But my real passion began when I took my first film photography class in high school. From the moment I picked up that film camera, I felt a shift in myself. As cheesy as it sounds, it felt like I found the passion I had been waiting for.

Ever since then I have been taking pictures. What started with photoshoots with my friends, turned into buying my dream camera and creating my very own photography business.

And here we are now, with 5 years of professional photography experience, and the journey is still just beginning.

get to know me

My amazing husband’s name is Sam, and he is my high school sweetheart! We were together for 8 years before he proposed to me while we were kayaking with our friends and family. A year later, November 3, 2022, we were married! We had a beautiful Colorado wedding, complete with the magical snowfall and a herd of deer! It was an absolutely perfect day, and everything we both had dreamed of!
And he is my favorite thing in the world. He’s a black lab/pittie mix with a BIG, goofy personality. He’s named after Juneau, Alaska (a place that holds lots of amazing memories for Sam and I). We adopted him when he was 8 weeks old- within 2 days of me deciding I couldn’t live without a puppy anymore. We both swore we wouldn’t be coming home with a puppy… Obviously you can tell how that worked out for us. Best. Decision. EVER.
Being in nature- kayaking, hiking, camping, snowboarding; you name it and I’m there.
Traveling- ask me about St. Lucia, I could talk about it for hours!
Bookstores- I could spend all day, and I really do mean all day, in a book store.
Matcha Lattes + Boba- by far the best drinks in existence, you can’t change my mind.
Autumn- fall leaves, chilly weather, pumpkins, and warm drinks? Yes please.
If I’m not taking pictures, you can find me on long walks with my dog, kayaking/hiking with my husband, having movie nights with my friends, bullet journaling or crafting, reading with a cup of tea, organizing my house (I’m weird, I know) or binge watching whichever show I’m currently into (right now it’s Grey’s Anatomy).
I was born in North Carolina, but my home is Colorado. That’s where I grew up and where my family still lives. We moved there when I was 6, so I can tell you all the best places to go! When I was 20, I moved to San Francisco to live with Sam (who was there for work) and two years later we ended up in the beautiful state of Washington!
Three years later and WA has quickly become one of my favorite places in the world. I absolutely love living here; yes, even with the rain! ;)
